How to Replace Words in Text on Windows 11

Also available for: macOS

What you need: A Windows 11 computer and a box on a website, an email or a document where you can type, with the words you want to change already in it.

  1. Open the page, email or document that has the words you want to change, and find those words on the screen.
  2. Place the pointer at the start of the first word to change, in front of its first letter. Hold down the left mouse button (or the left side of the touchpad), move the pointer to the end of the last word to change, and release the button. The words you moved across are now highlighted, shown with a colored background.
  3. Check that only the words you want to change are highlighted. If more or fewer words are highlighted, click once in the box or document away from the highlighted words to remove the highlight, then repeat step 2.
  4. Type the new words. The highlighted words disappear when you type the first letter, and the new words take their place.

Expected result: The new words stand where the old ones were, and the rest of the text is unchanged.
