Windows 11

How to See the Password You Typed on a Website on Windows 11

Also available for: macOS

What you need: A Windows 11 computer, a website's sign-in page open in your browser, and the password you will type. These steps need an eye symbol or the word Show at the right end of the password box. In Microsoft Edge, the eye symbol appears there once you start typing.

Before you begin: The letters of your password will show on the screen. Make sure nobody else can see it.

  1. Click inside the password box. A thin blinking line (the text cursor) appears in it.
  2. Type your password. Each letter shows as a dot, which is normal.
  3. Click the eye symbol at the right end of the box (or the word Show). The letters you typed appear.
  4. Look at each letter. If one is wrong, click immediately after it, press the Backspace key once (above the Enter key, often marked with a left-pointing arrow) to delete it, and type the right letter.
  5. Click the eye symbol (or the word Hide) again. The letters show as dots again.

Expected result: You checked the password you typed, and it shows as dots again.
