How to Change a PDF Document's Print Size on a Mac
Also available for: Windows 11
What you need: A Mac with macOS Ventura 13 or later, a saved PDF document, and a printer you have used with this Mac. These steps use Preview.
Before you begin: Turn on the printer and load its paper. If you normally use a printer cable, connect it. These steps change how large the PDF's words and pictures appear on the paper.
- Click Finder (the blue smiling face) in the Dock, the row of app icons along the edge of the screen.
- In the menu bar at the top of the screen, click Go, then the folder containing your PDF, such as Documents or Downloads. Open a folder inside it by clicking that folder twice quickly. Continue until you see the PDF you want.
- Click the PDF once. Click File, move the pointer onto Open With to open its menu, then click Preview.
- In Preview, click File, then Print.
- Choose your printer from the Printer menu. Set Paper Size to match the paper loaded in the printer.
- Scroll through the print settings to the Preview section. Click its heading to expand it if its settings are hidden.
- Select Scale, then replace the percentage with the size you want. 100% means original size. A higher number makes the contents larger; a lower number makes them smaller.
- Check the page preview. If any words or pictures are cut off, lower the percentage until the whole page fits.
- Set Copies to 1, then click Print.
Expected result: The paper copy matches the size shown in the print preview.
