Windows 11

How to Go Back to the Previous Page in Microsoft Edge on Windows 11

Also available for: macOS

What you need: A Windows 11 computer with Microsoft Edge open on a web page that appeared after you clicked a link on an earlier page.

  1. Look at the upper-left corner of the Microsoft Edge window, in the row below the tabs. Find the Back arrow: an arrow pointing left, beside the address bar.
  2. Click the Back arrow once.
  3. Wait for the earlier page to appear.
  4. If the page did not change and the Back arrow looks pale, the link opened this page in a new tab. Click the X on this page's tab, at the top of the window, to close it. The earlier page shows in its own tab.

Expected result: The page you were on before you clicked the link is showing again.
