Windows 11

How to Install a Website as an App in Microsoft Edge on Windows 11

Also available for: macOS

What you need: A Windows 11 computer, Microsoft Edge, and the address of the website you want to use as an app, such as example.com.

Before you begin: These steps add a new app to your computer for the website you open. The website itself does not change.

  1. Click Start (the Windows logo) on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Type Microsoft Edge, then click Microsoft Edge in the search results to open it.
  3. Click the long address bar at the top of the Edge window, type the website address, and press Enter. Wait for the website to appear.
  4. Click the three dots (Settings and more) in the upper-right corner of Edge, then click Apps.
  5. Click Install this site as an app. A small box opens that shows a name for the app, taken from the website.
  6. Leave the name as it is and click Install.
  7. The website opens in its own window, without the address bar. If a small box asks about adding the app to the taskbar, check Pin to taskbar, then click Allow.
  8. Close the app window by clicking the X in its upper-right corner. Click Start, type the app name you saw in step 5, and look at the search results.

Expected result: The app appears in the Start search results with the website's name. Clicking it opens that website in its own window, and if you pinned it, its icon is also on the taskbar.
